What you build
The course moves from classic machine learning to generative AI. Each module has a short explanation and a lab.
AI, ML, deep learning and generative AI. What each one is, what it isn't, and which business problems each one fits.
Machine learning foundations. Data preparation, train/test splits, and regression from a simple line to a working scikit-learn model.
Classification and evaluation. Confusion matrix, precision, recall and choosing a metric that matches the business cost of a mistake.
Bias, variance and overfitting. How to spot an overfit model and what to change.
Feature engineering. Turning raw columns into inputs a model can learn from.
Deploying a model. Packaging a model behind an API and the options for running it on AWS.
Generative AI with RAG. Embeddings, vector search, chunking, prompts that stay grounded in retrieved text, and evaluation. The free RAG vs fine-tuning guide covers when to use each.
Teams can take the full outline or focus on either the machine learning half or the generative AI half. Topics are agreed on the first call. Taught live by Pushpjeet Cholkar, with room to interrupt mid-lab.
Who this course is for
Individuals: Developers and analysts in the USA who want to understand how machine learning models are built, measured and shipped, not just call an API
Engineers who need to add generative AI to a product and want to know when RAG is the right tool
Teams: Product and engineering teams starting their first ML or generative AI project
Data teams that want a shared vocabulary for model evaluation before results go to the business
Teams that want labs built on their own data or documents, agreed on the first call
Prerequisites
Basic Python is required: reading and writing simple scripts and installing packages. You don't need prior machine learning experience.
Corporate and open formats
Individuals and teams anywhere in the USA can join. Corporate cohorts take up to 20 people, can run onsite at your location or live online, and can use your own systems for the labs.
